‘A disk attempting to mount as unknown…’ Error

  1. You are trying to mount disk which is formatted to an incorrect file system which Mac OS X is generally unable to recognize.
  2. It might be possible that mounting disk is corrupted.

Steps to fix a disk attempting to mount as Unknown error---

Before attempting to solve out this error, first make sure that the disk which you are mounting contains a valid file system that must be recognized by Mac OS X. If this is right then—

  1. Run fsck to find out corruption in file system and to repair it.
  2. If this is not helping you then to solve out you need to reformat your hard drive. Formatting and reinstalling OS can solve many problems but along with this it also create problem of data loss.
