Creating Folder… Access Denied – Mac OS X Error!
Mac OS X allows its users to logged in as an administrator when any application is installed in it. But if you logged in as an administrator but are unable to install applications then either your permissions for the Mac OS system is damaged or your administrator account is damaged. In both the cases Apple’s Disk Utility can be used to repair the permissions and the Apple Repair Privileges Utility 1.1 can be used to restore privileges of the Mac OS X system files to their default configuration.
In order to resolve the issues some of the solutions are mentioned below which are different for different Mac users.
Solution 1 – For Mac OS 10.2.X Users only
Use Apple Disk Utility to repair the permissions of the disk and then follow the below mentioned steps –
- To begin with start Apple Disk Utility which is in Applications/Utilities folder.
- After that check for the First Aid tab.
- Now select the volume in which you want to install the program and then click on Repair Disk Permissions.
- Then try to install the program.
- If it does not resolve the issue then go to the Solution 3.
Solution 2 – For Mac OS 10.1.5 Users only
In case you are using Mac OS X version 10.1.5 then to resolve the issue install Apple Repair Privileges Utility 1.1 and try to install the program. If you don’t find this utility in Mac then you can also download it from Apple’s website. If this also fails to resolve the issue then proceed to the Solution 3.
Solution 3 – For all Mac OS X users
First create a new user account with administrator rights and follow the below mentioned steps –
- From the Apple menu choose the ‘System Preferences’.
- Now select ‘View’ > ‘Users’ > ‘New User’.
- After that click the ‘Identity’ tab, enter the name for the user account in the ‘Name’ and ‘Short Name’ text boxes.
- Then click the ‘Password’ tab and enter the password in the ‘Password’ and ‘Verify’ text boxes.
- Once it is done select option ‘Allow Users to Administer this Computer’ and click on ‘Save’.
- After that when it prompts, click on ‘Turn Off Automatic Login’ and attempt to install the program.
After performing all these steps your problem will surely be resolved and you will able to install the program easily.
