HFS+ File Recovery

  • How to retrieve corrupted partitions of HFS+ file system?
  • Looking to recover the damaged and corrupted Mac file system?
  • Is it possible to rescue the deleted, formatted and missing data’s of HFS+ file system?

File system (often also written as filesystem) is an integral part of operating system. It is responsible for storing and organizing computer files and data stored in them of different formats in a proper way. It is done to make the files folders easy to find, co-ordinate and access properly. File system uses data storage devices which involve maintenance of physical location of files to store and provide better access of data. Today, different types of file systems are used like FAT, NTFS, UFS, HFS, ZHS etc. and HFS+ file system is among one of them.

HFS Plus (HFS+) is improved version of HFS (Hierarchical File System) which is a primary file system used in Macintosh computers. It supports larger files and uses Unicode character set for naming files and folders. HFS+ permits file name up to 255 UTF-16 characters in length and n-forked files which is quite similar to NTFS file system. Typically the HFS+ volume is made up of nine structures and contains some embedded volumes which are mapped out of the HFS allocation file and are termed as bad blocks. These bad blocks effects the nine different sectors of HSF+ file system as a result sometimes this file system gets corrupted and damaged. Apart from this HFS+ file system also gets corrupted due to –

  • Partition deletion.
  • Hardware failure.
  • OS malfunctioning.
  • Power interruptions.
  • Hard drive crash.
  • Disk corruption.
  • Mechanical failure.
  • Disk control failure.
  • Accidentally deletion or formatting etc.

Corrupt and damaged file system results into un-mountable file system and inaccessible data, in fact in some extreme cases data loss situations may also occur due to which user loose most of their important data. To resolve this issue the only way is to recover the data which are not accessible this can be done using HFS+ File Recovery software. This software’s powerful and sophisticated algorithm scan the HFS+ file system recursively for the data stored in it and retrieves the deleted, formatted, missing, corrupted and lost data effectively in a safe and secure place.
